Collection: Burgundy Chardonnay
"Burgogne Chardonnay" is a classification of white wines from the Burgundy region of France. The Chardonnay grape is the most common grape variety in Burgundy and is used to make a wide range of wines, from simple and fresh to complex and full-bodied.
To obtain the "Burgundy Chardonnay" classification, the following requirements must be met:
Geographical area: The wine must be produced within the Burgundy area, which includes the departments of Côte-d'Or, Saône-et-Loire, Yonne and Aube.
-
Grape variety: The wine must be produced exclusively from Chardonnay grapes grown in the geographically defined area.
-
Vinification: The wine must be made using traditional techniques, including fermentation in stainless steel tanks or wooden barrels, depending on the producer's choice.
-
Alcohol percentage: The alcohol content of the wine must be at least 11% vol.
-
Quality: The wine must be of high quality and meet certain criteria for colour, aroma, taste and balance.
If the above requirements are met, the wine is entitled to carry the "Bourgogne Chardonnay" classification and must be an expression of the area's unique climate, farming practices and vinification traditions.
