Collection: Charles Van Canneyt
Charles Van Canneyt is the young winemaker at the helm of Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat. When Alain Hudelot-Noëllat retired from running the domaine in 2008 - a position he had held for some three decades - he handed over management directly to his grandson Charles. Based in Vougeot, this domaine has seen great improvements in quality in recent years, under the leadership of Charles, who was immediately recognized by critics and wine lovers alike. Since Charles took control of winemaking on the estate, he has become one of the rising stars of a younger generation of winemakers in Burgundy. With his wine in such high demand, it was only natural for Charles to increase production. However, with the exponential increase in the value of land prices in the Cote d'Or in recent years, the possibility of buying more vineyards is simply unfeasible for most local Burgundians. This has led to a recent trend in Burgundy - the emergence of micro-négoce - often born out of established domains.
Following in the footsteps of Jean-Marie Fourrier and Méo-Camuzet, Charles Van Canneyt started his micro-négoce in 2012 and further expanded his production in 2013. There is no doubt that Charles is an extremely talented winemaker as well as being incredibly well connected with many of the top Burgundian families throughout the Cote d'Or. Therefore, he could not be better placed to act as a négoce and select high quality wines for his business.
The wines he produces, both from the domaine and through this négoce business, are simply enchanting.
