Domaine François Gaunoux is a family-owned winery located in the beautiful and desirable Meursault in Burgundy. The domaine's knowledge and skill in winemaking is top notch and the grapes are of the highest quality. Their wines express the terroir, tradition and soul of the area in fine balance with newly developed techniques and contemporary winemaking.
Today there are about 10 hp. to the winery, which is managed by Claudine Gaunoux, daughter of François Gaunoux.

The grapes are picked exclusively by hand. Vinification takes place using modern winemaking. The grapes are 100% destemmed. Cuvaison of the red wines, where the must ferments with skins and seeds and acquires extra aroma, color and tannic acid, is carried out using traditional methods and varies from 20 to 25 days depending on the individual vintage. Claudine appreciates the terroir and the natural characteristics of the grapes, and is therefore also very careful about using oak in production – most new vintages are therefore exclusively stored in steel tanks, with automatic monitoring and temperature regulation via computer. The result is very fruit-driven wines, where the individual fields are allowed to shine through.
Meursault is one of the most well-known areas in Burgundy, and is located next to Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. The white wine from the area is recognized by many as the best quality in the world. The Meursault wines are characterized by their intensity and fullness, by their beautiful structure and by their special and complex aromas. Notes of butter, toasted nuts, fine flowers, honey and citrus fruits are always very recognizable.
Domaine François Gaunoux has some very interesting fields in Meursault, where the house's coveted monopoly fields 'Clos des Meix Chavaux' and 'Le Clos de Tavaux' are located. Typically, the fields in Burgundy are owned by several different domains, each of which creates its own expression of a given wine. The "Monopoly fields", on the other hand, have often been the exclusive property of the family for several generations and years and produce a completely unique wine that only the individual domaine can produce.
