Valle d'Aosta DOP is a classification for wine from the Valle d'Aosta region in northwestern Italy. The Valle d'Aosta DOP requires the wines to meet a number of strict criteria to be recognized under this classification.

Grape types: Valle d'Aosta DOP wines must be made from at least 85% Nebbiolo, Petit Rouge, Fumin or Pinot Noir grapes.

Vinification: The wines must be vinified and matured in the region they come from.

Alcohol percentage: The alcohol percentage in the wines must be at least 11.5% vol.

Aging: Valle d'Aosta DOP wines must mature for at least 12 months, of which at least 6 months must be in oak barrels.

Taste: The wines must have a complex and rich taste with a balance between tannins, sweetness and acidity.
