Collection: Trousseau
Trousseau is a blue grape variety, also known as Bastardo, it is originally from the Jura region of France. It is a hardy grape variety that thrives in cold climates and is resistant to pests and diseases. Trousseau grapes are small with a dark blue color and their skin is thick and dense.
The wines made from Trousseau grapes have a deep and intense color, with flavors of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and a hint of tannins. They are often powerful, full-bodied and dense, with a balance between sweetness and acidity. They are often aged in French oak barrels, which gives them a deeper flavor and complexity.
Trousseau grapes are often part of blends in the Jura wines, but they are also used to make monovarietal wines, especially in the Porto area of Portugal. Trousseau grapes are also used to make rosé wines and a type of sweet red wine known as Vin de Paille.
