Lucien Muzard & Fils Santenay Clos des Mouches Premier Cru 2022

The smallest Premier Cru field in Santenay.

Located on a south-facing hillside, with a thin layer of soil on top of Jurassic limestone bedrock, which is characterized by small, rounded limestone grains.

In the old days, this was the place where beehives were set up, at a time when bees were referred to as "mouches à miel", "honey flies" - hence the name.

Vinification takes place with the majority of the grapes de-stemmed only approx. 30% whole classes. The grapes are not crushed. Natural yeast starts the fermentation.

Maturation takes place in Bourgogne oak barriques, 15-20% of which are new.

Juicy and full-bodied, very elegant. Lots of delicate fruit and a fantastic crispness. The taste is long and seductive.
