Spottswoode Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Spottswoode Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Lyndenhurst is Spottswoode's take on a Cabernet Sauvignon that comes close to the Estate wine in both quality and personality. However, at a more affordable price. They achieve this by combining their own cabernet sauvigon grapes from the central vineyard, supplemented by grapes from other high-class fields and adding their great cabernet expertise.
The name Lyndenhurst comes from the many beautiful linden trees that grow close to the main house.
2019 The vintage is composed of 77.7% Cabernet Sauvignon from Spottswoode Estate, 9.4% Cabernet Franc, 4.1% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot and 3.8% Malbec.
After the harvest, the grapes reach the winery as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place at controlled temperatures. Aged for 20 months in primarily French oak barrels - 42% new barrels.
The color is deep garnet purple
The aroma is lively of blueberries, red currants and cherries. There are fine hints of cedar and fragrant earth.
The taste is medium-bodied, wonderfully elegant and aromatic. It is lively in the mouth with fresh red and black fruits. Addictively delicious long aftertaste.
This handsome American is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15-17°C. It is perfect as a companion to duck breast or braised meat with lots of flavour.
Finally find the big glasses for this wonderful wine.
Here is a really nice ratio between price and quality.
It is a wine made to be available already young, but we would definitely recommend storing a suitable number of bottles in the cellar so that it can also be experienced with age! We are sure that it will show a magnificent elegance after a few years.
