Collection: Dolcetto
Dolcetto is an Italian grape variety commonly grown in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. The name Dolcetto means "little sweet thing" in Italian, but although the grape is named for its sweet taste, most Dolcetto wines are actually dry.
The Dolcetto grapes thrive best in a warm and sunny climate and they require a good soil with a high iron and lime content to achieve the best quality. The grapes ripen early compared to many other grape varieties, which means that they are typically harvested in September.
Wines made with Dolcetto grapes are known for their fruity and well-balanced taste, with notes of dark berries, figs and cherries. They are often dense and powerful, with a good tannin structure and a deep colour.
Dolcetto wines are very popular in the Piedmont region and are often served with local food, such as pasta with a strong meat sauce or risotto. They are also suitable for pairing with a variety of cheeses.
