Here is the house's first produced wine, Casanova di Neri's signature wine.

The grapes for this wine come from the fields around the cellar in the eastern part of Montalcino. These are Fiesole at an altitude of 350-380 meters and Podernuovo at an altitude of 420-490 meters. The underground is Galestro in both places.

After harvesting in the first week of October 2018, the optically sorted grapes have spontaneously fermented under temperature control for 25 days.

The wine has subsequently matured for 42 months in botti of 60 - 102 hl, followed by 6 months of bottle aging.

In the nose you are met by a red berry, and in the mouth you find a very classically elegant Sangiovese expression. Red fruits, sweet tannins and fantastic balance. Since the first vintage (1977), the wine has shown great shelf life, and even the first vintages of the wine have proven to be completely fresh when tasted.

2018 was a year of very cold winter followed by a rainy spring. The summer was without extreme heat and ripening of the grapes took place very slowly and calmly. So, all in all, a year that is expected to produce elegant and very durable wines.

Gardini Notes
Another fundamental label by Casanova di Neri, a compendium of workmanship and territorial vocation. Black raspberry, with balsamic and officinal touches, suah as sage, to the nose, than licorice nuances. the mouthfeel is brackish-sapid, with return of officinal herbs and licorice. 96+

Wine Advocate
With a special commemorative label that celebrates its 40th birthday (1978–2018), the Casanova di Neri 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is lush and carefully concentrated to offer intensity and textural richness. The bright fruit remains intact in this wine, with plenty of cherry and blackberry, in an encouraging nod to the future cellar potential of this bottle. Many Brunellos from this vintage reveal faded or dried fruit, but thankfully not this wine. The acidity is mild, falling softly to the background, and the tannins are expertly managed. Only the finish is a bit leaner and quicker than anticipated. The wine ages in large oak casks for 42 months.
