Casanova di Neri Rosso di Montalcino Giovanni Neri DOC 2020

A brand new wine, dedicated to the creator of Casanova di Neri, Giacomo's father, Giovanni Neri, to celebrate the house's 50th birthday.

The grapes come from a fantastic field in the Sesta area between S. Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell'Abate. The field is 7 ha consisting of many stones and Galestro, and the more than 50-year-old canes are planted at a height of 390 metres. It was pure luck that the family was allowed to buy this field. It happened exclusively because the previous owner only wanted to sell to a Montalcino family that he knew came from the area, lived there, and would continue to live there. The field is not large and it is a Brunello certified field, and in the future a top Brunello will be produced from here.

This 2020, like 2018 and 2019, is a very small part of the harvest where a Rosso di Montalcino DOC has been produced. The rest will be Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2020.

2020 Montalcino is a very fine vintage, with not as much acid as 2019. It is relatively easy to go to here and now, and it should probably be drunk before vintage 2019. A very large and elegant Rosso di Montalcino, very light in color with with notes of red berries, especially strawberries.

The grapes were harvested in mid-September 2020, spontaneous fermentation for 18 days, after which the wine has been aged for 13 months in used tonneux, 500 liters and 800 liters respectively.

Only approx. 3,000 bottles. The rest is in the barrels, waiting to become Brunello di Montalcino Giovanni Neri DOCG 2020.
