Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018

Completely soft and creamy in structure – a Brunello at the very highest and most elegant level. The combination of elegance and flavor intensity is the hallmark of this excellent Brunello winery.

From canes that are on average 25 years old and located at an altitude of 200 - 400 metres.

The nutrient-poor, stony soil consists mainly of clay and limestone. The area near Castelnuovo dell'Abate overlooks the Val d'Orcia, southeast of Montalcino.

Manual harvesting with a strict quality selection of the grapes and a very low yield. The wine is aged for 30 months in 30 hl Slavic oak barrels. The wine was bottled in November 2022.

2018 will be remembered as a rainy, cool growing season, producing wines rich in aromas and structure, very recognizable, personal, with good acidity and alcohol levels.

The color is ruby ​​red. The scent has aromas of red fruit such as cherries and wild blackberries. The taste repeats the fruity notes of delicate composition with a spicy finish. Full and enveloping taste of great freshness and intense but silky tannins, which are juicy and pleasant.

Poggio di Sotto's Brunello is optimally ripe 10 – 15 years after harvest, but can develop under optimal conditions for up to 30 years.
