Carlo Giacosa Barbaresco Asili DOCG 2020
Carlo Giacosa Barbaresco Asili DOCG 2020
This wine is a brilliant example of what the Nebbiolo grape can achieve when grown in the Asili cru of Barbaresco. With its elegant structure and seductive aroma, it is a wine that offers both complexity and finesse.
In the nose you encounter a broad and flowery scent with delicate notes of sweet fruit. The taste is harmonious and refined, with a balanced acidity and velvety tannins that extend into a long aftertaste.
This Barbaresco is ideal to enjoy with risotto or meat dishes, but is also excellent with mature cheeses or alone as a sophisticated glass outside meals.
The wine should be served in large, attractive glasses at 16-18°C, where its complexity really unfolds.
It can be enjoyed now, but will also develop beautifully over the next several years.
The Nebbiolo grapes for this wine come from a single field Asili, where the vines grow on calcareous clay soil, perfectly exposed to the southwest at an altitude of 250 meters. The vines are trained according to the Guyot system, modified to a curved shape, which ensures optimal grape development.
After harvest, the grapes are lightly crushed and de-stemmed, after which the must ferments with skin contact in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The wine then ages in French oak casks before maturing further in bottle in the cellar, where it is kept in the dark and quiet until it is ready for release.
