Made from 100% nerello mascalese grapes, which grow on Contrada Volpare - Milo, at an altitude of 700m above sea level.
Sandy volcanic soil with lots of organic matter and rich in minerals.
Harvested in mid-October.
The grapes go through a process of cryomaceration for a few hours and then direct pressing.
The cold clarified must is fermented and matured for 4 months on the lees, 50% in French oak barrels and 50% in steel tanks.
Only very limited to the use of sulfur and copper.
The scent is peach, apple and quince.
The rosé has an insanely beautiful depth and complexity.
A super beautiful and insanely good rosé! Perfect to enjoy on the terrace - both as an aperitif or with the wonderful summer meal.

This rosé shows an easy approach on first nose with unripe peach, apple and quince. The appearance of the Maugeri 2022 Etna Rosato Contrada Volpare is medium pink with hints of that copper-toned shine that comes from Nerello Mascalese. The wine is light and ethereal, but it also offers more substance to the palate.
Maugeri is a very exciting new addition to the Etna wine scene, with an extremely relatable wine philosophy that zeros in on white and rosé wines. The concept is brilliant, and the wines are excellent. If you are not familiar with Maugeri, I enthusiastically recommend that you seek these bottles out.
