Pievalta San Paolo Verdicchio Riserva DOCG 2020

A truly special wine that shows verdicchio at its most amazing.

The grapes for this wine are grown at an altitude of 350 meters on Monte Follonica, on the San Paolo di Jesi side. With good exposure in the calcareous clay soil, the grapes thrive with sunny days and slightly cooler nights.

The production is a good combination of old-fashioned methods and modern technology. The grapes are carefully picked by hand and gently pressed to preserve the fine nuances of taste. The wine is then fermented in a controlled manner in large 25 hl oak casks and in steel, after which it is aged for 18 months in a combination of large casks, cement and stainless steel. Finally, the wine rests in the bottle for another 6 months before it is released.

The wine has a nice and shiny straw yellow colour. The scent is a mix of citrus fruits, especially lemon and lime. When you go a little deeper, you can also smell white peaches and sweet pears. There is also a faint scent of flowers that adds an extra dimension to the wine.

The fresh acidity that characterizes verdicchio mixes beautifully with minerality in a nice balance. The nutty undertone gives nice complexity. Overall, it gives a fine texture to the wine and a sense of depth. The aftertaste is really nice and persistently fresh.

The mineral character gives a sense of purity and refinement and ties the taste experience together in an elegant way.

This wine goes really well with tasty pasta dishes or grilled light meat. Pievalta San Paolo Verdicchio Riserva DOCG 2020 is truly a delicious verdicchio wine. Definitely one of our favorites and we're sure you'll love it too!
