Collection: Montenidoli

In the middle of 200 hp of beautiful nature in the hills near San Gimignano, bordering Chianti Classico, we find Montenidoli. A place filled with light, peace and hospitality.

Here, high up on the hill, the beautiful lush vineyards have lots of light and completely clean air. In 1965 the forest had taken over the fields. The vines were fully grown and the olive trees were wild. Here was pure and unspoiled nature. Elisabetta Fagiuoli and her people have stuck to that philosophy since they came into existence. The belief that the real winemaker is the one who knows how to serve nature, not to dominate it, is evident in all the work on the farm.

They have bred rabbits themselves, which provide natural fertiliser, they have bought earthworms to create delicious soft soil for the fields. They only gently prune the vines, and only when they are dormant in winter. Everything that is cut is chopped and fermented to be returned to the soil as compost. In this place, time, nature and the seasons control almost everything.

The soil on the lowest slopes is sandy, calcareous and very rich in minerals. It is perfect for the vernaccia grapes, which are used for the fantastic white wines.

On the upper part of the slopes, the soil is almost reddish and rich in minerals, which are created for the red sangiovese grapes.

Ancient olive groves and vineyards are well protected by the lush forest around them. Beautiful old oak trees, pine trees and many different shrubs and ground cover help to ensure that nature is found here in its purest form.

The olive oil from the farm is made from the Moraiolo variety, which has small and rounded black berries. As well as Correggiolo, which has larger, oval and green berries. There is a perfect combination in the body from the black olives and the scent from the green olives. The oil from the hills here is called "the farmer's gold".
