Domaine Arnaud Baillot Corton “Le Rognet” Grand Cru Le Rognet 2023
Domaine Arnaud Baillot Corton “Le Rognet” Grand Cru Le Rognet 2023
An exceptional example of what red wines from Burgundy can achieve, sourced from the iconic Grand Cru vineyard Le Rognet on the Corton hill.
The unique character of the terroir and the elegance of pinot noir are highlighted at a sublime level.
In the glass, the wine presents itself with a deep ruby red color. The aroma is complex, enticing with dark cherries, forest berries, violets, and subtle hints of spices and forest floor.
The taste is full-bodied and well-structured, with ripe berries, an elegant minerality, and silky tannins that lead into a long and balanced finish.
The Le Rognet vineyard is located on the northern part of the Corton hill, where limestone clay soil and southeast-facing slopes provide optimal conditions for pinot noir. The grapevines are old and yield small, concentrated grapes, which are carefully selected during harvest.
The wine is traditionally vinified with long maceration to extract depth and complexity. After fermentation, it is aged for 12-15 months in French oak barrels, many of which are new, to add finesse and integrate the flavors.
This Grand Cru is ideal for duck, game, or robust mushroom dishes. Serve it at 14-16 degrees Celsius, and give it time in the glass to fully open up.
A wine with aging potential that will only grow in complexity over the next 10-15 years.
