Redigaffi är en kraftfull men elegant Merlot med mogna, sammetslena tanniner, balanserad syra och fyllig kropp på 15 procent alkohol. Det betyder att du ska hitta mat med rikligt med fett och djup, så att de mjuka tanninerna får något att arbeta med och vinet inte känns för tungt. Välj rött kött tillagat med kraftiga metoder som grill och stekning, där vinets lager av mörka frukter och toner av choklad möter köttets stekyta och saftighet. Lite syrliga tillbehör som syltade grönsaker eller en grov senap håller gommen fräsch mellan de feta tuggorna.

Om vinet

Tua Ritas riktigt bra vin.

Vinet planterades 1988 på de kritiga fälten runt vingården.

1994 beslutade de på Tua Rita att ta två fat merlot och vinifiera dessa ensamma istället för att som vanligt blanda det med cabernet för Giusto di Notri. Vinet har fått sitt namn efter en bäck som rinner mycket nära vingården. Detta var början på kultvinet Redigaffi, som senare för årgång 2000 uppnådde 100 poäng med Robert Parker.

Efter skörd har vinet lagrats i 18-20 månader på nya franska barriques.

Redigaffi är en fantastisk Merlot med bra balans och elegans. Vinet har bara så många lager av mörk frukt och det finns även toner av choklad.

Ett mästervin som imponerar år efter år.

This has gorgeous aromas of walnuts, chocolate, spiced plums, licorice and grilled herbs. Rich and chewy with a full body and firm, broad tannins.

The 2017 Redigaffi (100% Merlot) is a classic Tua Rita wine. Rich, dense and explosive, the 2017 captures all of the natural exuberance that comes so easily in this southern part of the Tuscan coast. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, spice, new leather and spice abound. Although the 2017 is quite potent, it is also not as extracted or opulent as it can be. I would prefer to drink it over the next decade or so.

The 2017 Redigaffi has a few surprises up its sleeve, the most unexpected of which are those floral aromas of rose and lavender that lift so gently from the bouquet. These are absolutely counterintuitive given the heat and power of this vintage. This Redigaffi is a delicate wine in terms of its aromatic display despite the density and extract that is delivered to the palate. It carries a touch of bitterness or tannic dryness on the close to go along with its 15.5% alcohol content. The mouthfeel is tight, focused and sharp. This is a really beautiful and interesting Merlot that skirts around the hot vintage, yet it ultimately leaves you with marked determination and bold fruit flavors.
